Technology: a wonderfully frustrating thing. I love putting slideshows together and putting it to music. What a great momento that can be of a special trip or milestone birthday. Let me rephrase that, I love the finished product of a video slideshow. The past couple years I have gotten pictures and video from my kids activities in school that year and volunteered to put a slideshow together for the teacher at the end of the year. Sounds simple right? Simple and awesome when everything goes as planned. It rarely does. I can’t tell you the amount of hours that ends up going into such a seemingly small, easy task. Whether its the computer crashing midway or the program not accepting the format of the pictures or maybe it seemed like it was great but when you burned the cd and actually played it back all the video clips (that you painstakingly edited) were black on the screen but they had sound. Aghhhhhhh so frustrating. Well, I really desperately wanted to make a slideshow of our trip to colorado at the beginning of the summer and post it for all to see BEFORE Eric’s big race there this weekend. Life just kept getting in the way and it just wasn’t happening. So when i finally sat down to do it, time was of the essence. Usually the case with me since i am a seriel procrastinator. I quickly realized this was going to be no different. Things were not going at all smoothly and after spending quite a bit of time on it I realized I was going to have to let the thought of this actually happening go. Enter my beautifully talented daughter who took it upon herself to take the reins of the project (unbeknownst to me, at first) and put this movie together. She just emailed it to me as i touched down in colorado. It brought me to tears. And she is only 11. I hope you like it as much as i do and I think she has a career in this! I’ll be happy to pass this ‘oh so always frustrating task’ on to her. Stay tuned for her 2nd video coming soon after the leadville 100.
