Are you showing up in the world in a big way? Are you going thru the motions, are you living what you’ve determined is an “okay” or “pretty good” life? I know what this looks first hand because it used to be me. But I have recently focused on what truly matters above all, my health (mind and body). God made me in a remarkable and unique way and for me to show up in the world in a remarkable and unique way I need my health to be in balance. Without it where would I be? It’s everything.
And, I want to help you get your health balanced and for you to step into your remarkable uniqueness. I want you to live life as the greatest version of YOU! It’s about you and no one else. Thru proper balanced nutrition/supplementation and fitness you will take back your life and I look forward to guiding you on this journey. Your body is a machine! You have to fuel it right and maintain it for it to run smoothly and take you where you want to go. Uramachine, you only get one body, shift it into gear!
I grew up in a small town in Lancaster County the youngest of 5 with 2 very hard-working parents. A latchkey kid who ate whatever I wanted when I got home from school had me up to 150 lbs by the 4th grade. With 4 older brothers and many kids at school teasing me my identity quickly became the funny girl always cracking jokes. It’s better to laugh with than be laughed at. I quickly learned to hide pain and to shove feelings of embarrassment and shame deep deep down. This was also the start of my war within myself. I did not like me.
But, I was a competitive kid with all those brothers so I did find some self worth in sports and activities. Growing 4 inches in 1 year put me into the more “normal” range size wise but by that point the insecure fat kid was inside me for life (or so I thought). My love for activities stuck with me and I dabbled in whatever I could, weight room in college, Jane Fonda Step Aerobics in my dorm room, running for fun (what?), post college Billy Blanks Taebo in my living room in my early 20’s, entering races with friends in my mid 20’s. And this love hasn’t stopped. After having kids I left my “real job” as a High School English Teacher/Guidance Counselor to be a homemaker. I quickly realized that I needed something for myself. I taught summer school and I did SAT tutoring but since I was at the gym every day already I decided to pursue group fitness. WOW, who would’ve thought the shy, self conscious, embarrassed kid would ever be jumping around in front of a group teaching classes? I sure didn’t, but here I am 10 years later, still doing it and loving it even more than I ever thought imaginable.
2 years ago I discovered a nutritional program that took me out of my post 40-year-old fog that I had thought was just the norm for my age. When I tweaked my nutrition my energy soared to unbelievable heights, higher than it had been in my 20’s. My running vastly improved and most importantly my love for myself grew exponentially. I learned that it’s not just about fitness, definitely not. It’s the trifecta: nutrition, fitness and personal development that’s going to help you lead that extraordinary life. With these 3 things in check I discovered a me that I never knew existed and since then I have been on a mission to help as many people as possible. EVERYONE deserves to live better than “okay lives.” We are all put on this earth for greatness. You can only achieve that greatness when you feel GREAT. I can’t wait to help you feel and BE great!
Allison Thorne, 44, is a fitness instructor, avid runner, mom of 3 and in love with life. I love working out and helping others learn to love working out as well. I have completed 5 marathons and countless half marathons, 10k’s and 5k’s. My love of fitness keeps me connected with friends and family as we work together toward their goals, whether it be training for a race, building stamina during Bootcamp/HIIT classes or building lean muscle during Les Mills Body Pump, CX Worx, and GRIT classes. I enjoy corralling others to join me on runs but also appreciate the solace of a solo run now and again.
I proudly help to coach my kids sports teams whenever possible and enjoy coaching my kids and other 3rd-5th graders on their GOTR/STRIDE team. I believe strongly in being an example of great health (mind and body) to my own children and to those around me.
